Contribute to VSO products
translate them!
Below is a quick step guide to find how to translate a product and submit your work to VSO staff :
*Here is a
complete guide in PDF
on how to use our Translating tool.
1.
Look for
EditLoc.exe
in your VSO product directory* and double click it. What you have clicked on is a shortcut that will open
EditLoc.exe
which is actually located in:
C:ProgramDataVso[name_of_program][version]Lang
2.
You should see the main interface:
Then, pick the language you want to translate to and validate.
3.
A new line has been added to the main list:
4.
Here is the string edition interface. Select a line and press
F2
or
FN key + F2
to edit the string:
The interface is pretty simple.
5 columns:
Type and Tag ->
Special categories, you don't have to take them into account to make translations.
Translation ->
Your output translation will be displayed here.
Original ->
As the name suggests, the original translation.
Status ->
Could be "unused", "up to date" or "new". Only "new" strings need a translation.
You can sort the different categories by clicking on top of them. (alphabetic sorting)
When you validate a "new" translation, it will be marked as "up to date", so the colour will turn into green. Note that you must not translate the strings containing "Charset...", just select them with a right click and select "
Use Original
".
When you are done with the translation, select "
OK
" and "
Save the locale file
" in the main interface.
Your translation has now been saved as a .ini file among other languages in the "Lang" folder.
